The precipitated barium sulfate of "Yun" brand belongs to colorless orthorhombic crystal or white amorphous powder. The relative density was 4.50 (15 ºC). Melting point 1580 ºC. It is almost insoluble in water, ethanol and acid. Soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, easy to agglomerate when drying. Barium sulfide can be reduced by carbon at 600 ºC.
It is used as fillers for various water-based coatings, oil-based coatings and powder coatings, ink, paper-making, housing materials, plastics for
building materials, high-grade electric paper, insulating plastics, rubber products, cathode expansion agent for batteries and ceramic glaze materials.
